Finally Another Update!
Hey! I have not updated my blog very well lately! So now I am!
School is going well! I have 3 tests this week. I had a business test last week, and a business presentation, and a lot of other stuff. This week I have a Microbiology test, a Microbiology Lab exam, and a Microsoft Excel exam.
Tomorrow I have my Mission Prep class, and a LOT of reading to do! And studying for exams, writing papers, working on assignments, Devotional, activities meeting.
This evening was fun! For FHE we got our group together and went to the Bishop’s house in Idaho Falls. His house was way nice! We sang, had a lesson, and then had “refreshments.” However, the refreshments were the equivalent to a mouth-watering MEAL! It was amazing! The bishop and his wife are so hospitable! I am STILL so full from eating there! Then afterwards, most of the kids left, but about 5 of us stayed a little bit longer to play a fun game with Bishop Stevens and his wife. They taught us a neat dice game called “Farkel”! We were on teams of two. I was on a team with Jacob Pettit, so we called our team “Alexob.” This high stakes game was extremely enlivening with the big risks you could choose to take! Jacob and I were very entrepreneur-like and took every risk that we were faced with, and just to show that taking risks is worth it, WE WON by far! We had thousands of points while others were barely at 400! In addition, we were extremely lucky when it came to rolling the dice!
It is raining outside right now! And it smells WONDERFUL! I really love the rain SO much! But, it has been rather cold lately! I don’t like it to be so cold! It was nice a few days ago, and then the wind kicked back up and it got all chilly again! Brr!
Oh, last week Robby and I went and saw a good movie – 10,000 BC! It was very intriguing and different than I expected, but very a interesting and great film!
Well, I definitely had better get to sleep now! Although, I took a nap today, so I’m not terribly tired like I usually would be at this time! But I really don’t want to throw off my sleeping schedule. I can’t wait for my Mission Prep class tomorrow! I love that class so much! It’s my favorite!

17 May 2008 – Engaged!

School is going great, and guess what! As of last night, I am engaged! After a delectable steak dinner, we went to the gardens on campus and were sitting and talking. Then he gave me 14 roses! Then he proposed! The ring is SO gorgeous!!! And thanks to Nicole (his sister), there is actual footage of the entire event!
I love it!
Our wedding will be on 23 August 2008 at the Salt Lake Temple!
5 May 2008 – !Happy Cinco de Mayo!
I’m having a great semester so far! Classes are going great! Last Thursday my Microbiology Lab began, which is exciting! I got to look at yeast and blood vessels under a microscope along with a fruit flies wing (not alive, of course) and also a hair from my scalp! Super fun! I hope we get to isolate DNA and use petri pans! That’s my favorite! I still remember how cool my Molecular Biology class was at BYU! And my awesome DNA necklace I made!
My Microbiology Lab instructor is the same guy that teaches the class I’m taking! He is so funny! Such an interesting character… Today one of his colleagues, (I’m assuming another Biology professor) came in and was making funny faces behind his back, and he didn’t even realize it! When people would laugh, he thought they were laughing at him! And he was so confused, it happened about 3 or 4 times, and finally the instructor just walked up to him and then turned off his computer when he was in the middle of a power point presentation!!! Poor professor! He realized it quite quickly and was like “Hey! What are you doing?!?!” and tried to push him away, but it was too late. We had to make short talk for about 6 or 7 min while the computer restarted and got logged back on and everything. Hahaha.
One thing that I’ve been wondering for a while, well since the first day of class, is whether or not cells (namely bacteria and viruses) have spirits. They are alive, have specific functions, move, eat, reproduce, die. I can understand that maybe not every cell has a spirit, because those seem more chemically reacting and not as alive, but with viruses and bacteria, they are very alive, so I really wonder. I thought about asking my professor a couple of times. I might ask some other people first though.
I went to Coeur d’Alene with Robby and his sister Nicole last weekend! Their family lives up there! It was so beautiful there with so many trees, lakes, mountains, etc! I loved it! And Robby’s family is so cool and nice and made the visit super fun! We even went on a hike (where I took this picture on my phone) and it was so nice to be out in the trees and everything! There should be more trees in Rexburg!
But, speaking of Rexburg, the weather has momentarily postponed the blizzards (hopefully for a WHILE!) It’s 70 degrees today, blue skies, and I didn’t have to wear a jacket for once! Today was also “Hawaii Day” for my business class! We were instructed to wear shorts, flip flops, leis, and anything you’d wear to Hawaii. So that was fun! It’ll probably be the only time I’ll wear shorts and flip flops to class (both are against the dress code) and get away with it! Wow! My business class is also divided into 8 or 9 teams, to promote the ability to work well with others in groups. One person from each team was supposed to share a travel experience and my team decided that I should share one. I haven’t even been out of the country, traveled extensively, or gone on a mission (at least 2 people in my group have gone on foreign missions!) So I told them a few, and they like the one where I passed out at the Nauvoo Bakery. Hahaha. So Mom e-mailed me some great Nauvoo pictures she took when we were there, and I got to tell them about it.
Oh, and for anyone that is wondering about Robby, he’s my boyfriend now!!! He is the very best and I really enjoy spending time with him! He is such a cool guy! And handsome too! He has to be the most adorable guy I’ve ever known! And he’s my boyfriend! =)
Brooke sent me some awesome tracks from a piano CD she recently purchased! It’s called “Piano Lounge” or something, and it’s jazzy and has a nice relaxed feeling to it. I love it! I want her to send more!
Yesterday I got sustained for my new callings! I am now the Ward Choir Director as well as on the activities committee! Activities committee will be great fun, but I’m kind of nervous about the Choir Director one! I’ve never directed a choir before, nor do I know how! But the bishop’s wife, Sister Stevens, is the Stake Music Chairman, and she says she can help me. She is an amazing lady! She is so classy and elegant too! I love her!
I have a lot of reading to do. That’s almost all that my homework ever is – huge reading assignments every day! But it could be worse. Just imagine huge writing assignments and essays to go along with those readings! I also have an orthodontist appointment this week, a dance board meeting, a SIFE meeting, a meeting with the bishopric, and another meeting with my business ‘team’. Oh, I also named our team! At first the people were thinking of stupid names, like “Team Yahoo” and stuff! They were also thinking of successful corporations to name our team after, which might be related to business, but I thought of one that is powerful and is directly related to business: Chain of Command! How perfect is that?! It’s authoritative and is an extremely important aspect in business (Chain of command being a set of relationships that indicates who directs which activities and who reports to whom). And our team will be at the top of that chain! My old FHE brother is in my team too!!! We made him the “team leader”! Good thing too, because he called me last night to remind me of a paper that was due today! I almost forgot about it! What an awesome team leader!
Our new FHE brothers just visited tonight too! They’re all nice guys! All of them are 18, except for one of them who is 21. They’re cool though!
I also got a letter from Max today! And an e-mail! Sounds like he’s having a great time in Majuro!
Robby is at work right now. How sad! But I’ll see him later tonight! So I’ll just work on homework and visit with roommates and friends! And maybe go to the gym tomorrow! I haven’t been once yet this semester! Ya, I think I’ll definitely go!
26 April 2008 – Weekend!
I’ve been having a nice weekend so far! I don’t know where all my roommates went, so it’s REALLY quiet at the house. Actually Nancy had to go home for a few days because her uncle died (funeral). The other two, I really don’t know where they are! It was just Nancy and I last night, and now I don’t know if anyone will be here tonight!
Yesterday I went to a cool performance of “The Spencers: Theatre of Illusion.” It was so much fun to see!!! It was very entertaining and the Spencers were very charming people (Husband and Wife). Then I got some homework done. I thought about going to a Joel Ward illusion show with a friend, but I had already seen one, and decided not to. Then Robby (from my CIT 140 class) came over and we went and played piano for a while at the Hinckley building. Robby is SUCH an amazing pianist/singer!!! He was playing awesome renditions of hymns that he created himself, and sang them at the same time! And he has a great voice too! So that was way fun! Then we went for a drive and talked. It was really neat, because to me, Robby seems way more mature than most guys his age (he’s 22), and knows what’s important in life. We actually discussed spiritual topics, and being at BYU-I, that might seem like a given, but in reality, friends usually just save their spiritual discussions for church, religion classes, (aka, whenever they HAVE to). So I really appreciated his company and getting to know him a little bit better. To summarize, Robby is really really nice, cool, neat, smart, etc. How cool is that!?
When I got home, I had a fun conversation with Nancy and her friend Catherine! We had lots of fun just talking, laughing, and having a good time! We told lots of fun stories about our lives and became better friends/roommates! Nancy is a really sweet girl. I hardly see her though! She is always so busy with classes, studying all the time, and clinicals! She is taking 19 credits right now, is a Nursing major, and will be graduating this semester with her Bachelors in Nursing! She is a very dedicated student; a nice example to me when I should be studying more!
This morning I got up and went to Nathan’s apartment to meet for our study group! Robby and I were supposed to meet at his apartment at 11:15am, but Robby works at a place called Progrexion, and he was scheduled for 7-11am today. So I got there around 11:15 (probably earlier, because Viking Village is extremely close to where I live and takes no time at all to get to, less than a minute!) and Nathan was making orange juice! And he gave me a glass!!! I was pretty thrilled, because fresh orange juice is the BEST! I also got to meet his interesting Korean roommate, haha! Robby got there as soon as he got off work and we all went to the library and got all our homework done for our CIT 140 class!
Then I got home and read a lot of my business reading. I’ve been thinking a LOT about what I really want to major in and what I want to do. The chapter I was reading in my business book had a lot of great ways of determining well-suited possibilities. It had a lot of self-assessment questions as well as ideas. I also have been spending quite a bit of time at the academic advising, and getting advice and help there as well. So I think I might have a good idea of what to study/do. I’ll just have to do more researching and praying to decide whether it’s the best choice or not.
I went grocery shopping today. I bought some bread, bananas, agave, and granola bars! So as soon as I got home (I was kind of hungry) I tried a granola bar, and it was delicious! Then I made a fruit smoothie! Now I’m not hungry anymore. Tonight (in about an hour, actually!) I’m going to a Shidara concert! It’s a group of Japanese drum performers, etc. It’ll be fun! I have more plans for tonight and tomorrow, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do all of them (especially tonight). After the concert, I really should go home and study more! I have a LOT of reading still. I have most of my business reading completed, but I still have a chapter of Microbiology to finish! So, I might have to cancel, or at least postpone plans until next week.
Also! One last note – the weather here in Rexburg is finally tolerable! Pleasant, actually! There were no bone-chilling winds, no blizzards, no below-freezing conditions for once! It was sunny, calm, and 50F! I was pretty happy about it! Yesterday I had to wear two jackets! Today I just wore a light sweater! I probably don’t even need the sweater, but with Rexburg, you never know if it will start snowing or something within the next 15 min.
I’m going to get ready for the Shidara concert now! I’m so excited!

ANP
23 April 2008
I am having so much fun being back here in Rexburg! Church was good, the people seemed very “interesting”. I have never been in a ward quite like it, but that’s ok. Everyone seems very nice and unique!
After church, I went and visited my old roommates, Amanda and Alyssa. It was fun to see them again, and I also said hi to my old bishop! After spending a little bit of time with them, I went to my friend Adam’s apartment and played “Settlers of Catan” with him, Mike, and his new wife Clarissa! It was fun, but I think I had the least points by far. Mike won, of course, after complaining about the game the entire time. Hahaha. I also met all of Adam’s roommates! Then some friends and I watched a movie at my apartment. Then I got my things all ready for classes the next day, wrote down my class schedule, classroom numbers, and went to bed!
The next morning I got up and went to my first class – Intro to Business. The professor is so cool! Plus, I already know a couple of the people in my class! One is my old FHE brother, Jordan! He got back form his mission in Brazil a little while ago. He’s cool. The other person I already knew was Tracy. She was one of my roommates for a semester! She’s really nice! There was also another girl who thinks that we took a class together before, but I don’t really remember her.
During business we got to interview the person next to us, and mine was a very handsome guy named Michael! He’s from the Bay Area, 21 years old, Leo, lives at Viking Village, and is the youngest out of 4. He was very fun to talk to. If he lived one floor down at Viking Village, he would be in my ward!
After my business class, I had Micro-Applications. It’s in the same building, but 2 floors up (4th Floor). The professor for that class is way cool as well, and kind of cracks me up. He kind of reminds me of a vampire, only not all scary like one. He’d be a happy, friendly vampire! I guess it’s just his looks that slightly make me think that. I also got to sit with really cool, friendly people in that class as well: Candace, Nathan, and Robby! Oh, very unlikely and funny addition – Michael and Nathan are roommates!!! What are the chances of that?!
After Micro-Applications I went to Microbiology! That teacher is SO odd!!! He amuses me
greatly and makes me laugh! He is by far the weirdest professor I’ve ever had. But, I love that class so much already!!! Cell structure, functions, viruses, bacterica and all the different types there are!!! So fascinating! The only bad thing about that class is that the textbook required starts at $120 if you find it used. It’s ridiculous! But, I can probably sell it for around that price after I’m finished with the course. The lab for the class begins next week!
Later that night (21 April), my friend Markus and I went and studied at the library. Then we got hungry and went to Arby’s. Then we watched a movie. Then I went to bed. The next morning I went to Missionary Preparation. That class sounds like it’ll be intense! And way fun! Then my roommate Nancy and I went to devotional! John met us there. President Clark and his wife gave the devotional, which was excellent as always! Then I went home and got some homework done. I got some reading completed as well as 2 papers written! One of my assignments was to make a list of “50 Things I Want To Do Before I Die!” It was really fun, but took a while to think of 50 things! The first half was easy, but then I had to start thinking about it.
Well, I have a dance board meeting in about half an hour! I’m going to probably head up there right now with a textbook and get some reading done before the meeting!
31 March 2008 – Week 13
I only work 2 days this week, and one of the days is already behind me! Consequently I have 5 consecutive days to work hard, study, and [hopefully] finish my online Winter classes from BYU-I! I signed up for 13 credits this semester, which results in a LOT of reading and even more writing. And math (but just for Astronomy Lab). Soo much math! In fact, I must include a formula that I used extensively in my last assignment!
Doppler Equation:
c|Δλ|/λ0 = V
Capice? Buono!
C: The speed of light, per kilometer, per second (3 x 10^5 km/sec)
Δ: Delta, stands for the measured spectral line of a galaxy
λ: The wavelength in the Sun.
V: Speed of Galaxy.
I used this equation to determine 18 speeds of different galaxies, using wavelength measurements that I attained using a redshift simulation program. It’s kind of interesting, but am I REALLY going to use this someday?!?!
I have 2 or 3 more labs to finish, so much reading for Chinese Literature and Chinese Culture, some small writing assignments for Social Problems, and a couple more quizzes and a final for Astronomy. And a LOT of writing for the Chinese classes!!! I’m actually working on one of the papers right now. I’m writing about the Tang dynasty! Very interesting! That reminds me…Tang Poetry! I might post a paper I wrote concerning a couple of great poets from the Tang era! It’s not too long.
I’m starting to feel sad about leaving Staples. I really do enjoy working there, and my coworkers and managers are great! They’re awesome people and somehow became my friends!!! Now I’m just leaving them!!! What if I never see them again?!? Well, I guess it really doesn’t matter, because I’ll be living 700+ miles away anyways with my BYU-I friends, so no worries whatsoever!
In fact, I will be moving to Rexburg again in exactly 18 days from now! I am so excited! There is only one spot available at my apartment. I’m also on the BYU-I dance board, as the Dance Board Secretary! That’ll be fun! And I’m still debating whether to take that University Police job or not. Maybe if it doesn’t take up too much time! With 17 credits, dance board, and everything else, a job that requires too much time might not be a good idea. But I might give it a try!!! It’d probably be fun!
Last night I watched the most amazing movie ever!!! It was a Merian C. Cooper silent film from 1924 called Grass. It was about a tribe in Iran, their resilience and determination concerning their ROUGH nomadic lifestyle, making vigorous journeys to lands with grass to sustain their livestock and life! It was so interesting! It was actually more of a documentary, but just as fascinating as ever! I would have died if I were one of them!
Well, I don’t know what to write now. My brain is totally sidetracked towards the mid-Tang Dynasty and Empress Wu!!! She was not a popular woman, apparently! I really hope I can finish this paper before I go to bed tonight!!!! I have sooo much to do!!!!!!!
Buona notte! Ciao!
